Ralph
McDonald Jr., A.K.A Gohard Boegard,
got his name from the
streets.
No really; the streets actually gave
him his name. The reason
that
name was given to him is because he
spits such fierce lyrics at the
drop
of a dime without blinking twice or
being asked twice. He was
born
and raised on the rugged North Side
of Houston, TX in a
neighborhood
called Studewood. Fans from the city
say he is to be the
next
big thing out of Houston in the era
of Hip Hop.
Currently,
he is working on his first official
release to retail stores titled
“Welcome 2 Houston”. This
album is said to be his best work to
date
from
those who have heard it. He has made
several appearances on
numerous
mix tapes in the underground world of
Hip Hop including his
own
underground album titled “The
Dirt Below Volume 1” . This was
his
break through album that made his mark
in the Southwest Region, and
it
is considered to be “The Chronic
2005” of the streets. Next was
the
underground
mix CD entitled “Whoop! Whoop!
Radio 120.5 SM”. Then
there
was “Keep It One-50” and
his latest project which he is currently
adding the finishing touches to titled
“Still One-50”.
Gohard
Boegard got his start into the music
scene with a seven member
rap group called Major League. After
a couple of years of recording and
performing
with the group, Boegard parted ways
to form his own group.
This group was called Woodcyde. It was
a four man band that was
making
some solid moves in the music business.
Performing with the
likes
of Eight ball & MJG, Tela, Too Short,
Luke Campbell, E-40, South
Circle, Scarface & many more.
Woodcyde
had a strong name in the South. They
recorded a full album
but
never released it because there were
some major issues with the
record
company whom they were with. In short,
Woodcyde split from
the
label thus spawning Gohard Boegard as
a solo artist. Boegard said
to
me, ”I tried the group thing twice,
now let me try me and see what
happens.”
Since
going solo, Gohard Boegard has acquired
a taste to be the best at
what he does. He now has a bigger buzz
in the streets than ever
before.
He has completed a low budget video
for the single “Hole In Da
Wall”
which is gaining a lot of attention
now from fans of his in
Houston,
TX. It is being played all over the
internet and soon to be on
T.V.
(Hot TV, BET, MTV, Street Flava, ect.)
Now his “Welcome 2
Houston”
album is one of the most anticipated
albums in the city. He
doesn’t
have a set release date yet, but it
is said that the album will be
hitting
the stores sometime late summer. Be
on the look out for Gohard
Boegard to be in a city near you.
